Not really dumb, but I was scoffed at when I asked if a particular sp101 was 357mag or 38.

Ruger apparently does not make a 38sp sp101, they just like to advertise it on their website.

ETA: The last 10/22 I bought new came with an instruction manual that included a picture on the cover and description of the .17HMR version that Ruger never made.

Last friday at Precision I see a 5rd AR mag and ask, "who would buy a 5rd AR mag?" The guy behind the counter as well as the meth head family walking in at 8:40 to shoot until 9 replied, "It's so you can meet the capacity law for hunting!" I asked them to show me the law, to which the meth mouth replied, "a fisheries agent told me that." Sadly the young guys behind the counter also believed the capcity for rifles law.

Once was told that OCing is totally illegal. Shall we bring up the issue of what a mag is. Cannot TELL how many experienced shooters wrongly referred to a box or drum mag as a "clip".
