I have an A2 upper AR-15 with a free float tube.
I'm thinking of putting an Eotech or an Aimpoint mounted on the freefloat tube forward of the carry handle.
My question is which brand & model would be best for a good lower co-witnessed sight picture?

Also how much does weight play into the game. (I'm not fond of too much weight past the mag well, but I don't want to mount it onto the carry handle.) I doubt it will be a prob if I mount it snugged up to the handle.

I know I could get a stripped flat top upper and a rear BUIS, but I rather not.
Any one ever done this on theirs?
    Pics if you have them.

Weight was not my "Main" concern. Though I don't want to overlook it.
I'm more worried about functionality & co-witness sight picture.

The buttons on most eotech models are on the rear and may be awkward snugged up to the carry handle if you have big fingers, however there is one that has them on the side (for the FTS magnifier, i think the 553)

Yea, just thought about that. Was leaning toward the aimpoint M2.

There is more than one side-button EOTech. I have the 557 w/ the drop compensated reticle. I believe they will all default to areound the height of an F marked FSB, but would rather a "lower third" cowitness myself, by putting the optic on a riser or QD mount.

Personally, I am a front and rear flip man, myself- I don't like anything I am not using to be in my FOV.
