NO rain, plenty of PA wind. New Berm, it may the highest point in LA. It needs blinking lights for aircraft. Fun times had by all. Thanks Fishing Fool (Rich) for the hotdogs.

The improved berm made it very challenging to see 223 bullet impacts today. Rob Westfall needs a public thank you for the work done on the 600 yd berm. It is now taller and thicker. I had a great time working in the pits with everyone. The fun match afterward was very interesting to watch. The winds later in the day made things very challenging.

We had 14 shooters out today and I want to thank peterf225 for working the pits and FishingFool for feeding those that could get to pit.
I'll post up scores a little later, but I believe this was one of the more Fun FPR matches, so far. Lots of friendly banter, a couple of equipment failures and the threat of rain. It don't get no better! :)

Had lots of fun but boy am I drained from the heat. I thought my light weight barrel was gonna start drooping. This is only my second time stretching my legs out to 600 and i'm sure hooked. Thanks to all espc. Peter for running the pits all day.

Hmmm 14 shooters, this sounds like something I might enjoy. This match sounds like a, longer timed/shorter range NTIT... What size are those Echo targets 40x19? Or are you using Echo's scaled for 300/200?

Field Precision Rifle Match for August 13, 2011- Scores

    FPR

14 shooters came out in the August heat to shoot the match. This was probably the most fun match to date as there was a lot of friendly banter amongst the shooters as well as support when one shooter had an equipment issue and another an ammo malfunction.

The berm work done by Rob Westfall looks good. The berm is about 5 feet higher now and twice as thick. This will afford the range more safety on the 600 yard line. Thanks, Rob.

Peter Fischer handled pit duties all day and Richard Chee brought his pit and cooked hot dogs for the participants. Thanks, guys.

Special kudos to Sarah, Phillip and Seth Hickman who came out , slinged up and shot their service rifles with optics. This is the next generation of shooters and we were very happy to see them. They sure looked like they were having fun. Hope they make it back.

Rob Westfall made his first appearance at the matches and shooting an open sight prone rifle shot a fine 594-31X to take the overall win for the match. Rob cleaned his last string with a perfect 200. Great shooting as usual Rob!

There were 4 competitors in the Back Bag division and Mickey Brinkman took the win with a personal best 555-10X. Mickey’s last string was a very nice 195-7X. Good shooting, Mickey.

There were 10 competitors in the No Back Bag division and Robert Bose took the win with a 560-12X.

    FUN MATCH
The fun match afterward saw 4 shooters forming two teams to shoot it out at the 200 and 300 yard range. Each shooter had to engage 2 targets per string. Joe Jones and John Hagan walked away with the winnings with a score of 110. This match takes about an hour from registration to completion.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and we hope to see you again next month.

The berm looks great, the hot dogs were awesome, and the wind took me for a ride on the last string. Had a blast as always, looking forward to the next one.
