Field Precision Rifle Match for June 11, 2011- RESULTS

10 shooters made it out to enjoy some mild wind conditions at Palo (for once). The temperatures began to climb, but we got finished before it got too hot. There were 3 competitors in the No Rear Bag Group and 7 in the Rear Bag Group.

Peter Fischer shooting a new 6.5 x 47 grabbed an early lead in the Rear Bag Group and never let up posting a very nice 583-16X and taking 1st Place. Dwayne Vidrine, shooting his new WOA upper on a Service Rifle, took 2nd with a 567-17X. Congrats, Dwayne.

In the No Rear Bag Group, Mickey Brinkman took 1st place with a 545-3X. The new Nightforce scope must have been working for him.

The next Field Precision Match will be July 9th. As this appears to be an event people enjoy shooting, we have scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month going forward.

We are also planning a fun Tactical-type match starting in July, to take place immediately following the FPR match. Details to be emailed out and posted soon.

    See ya next month,
    Rick and Ted

Mickey I will be back but maybe I will shoot no rear bag. Not too bad for the first outing with the new barrel installed.

Thanks Rick for letting me borrow your shooting mat. BTW the new gun is a 6x47L made using the 6.5x47L necked down.

Glad to meet the new guys out there today. I hope next month won't be too hot.

Today was my first match, but definitely not my last. I had a great time. Thanks Rick and all the guys for helping me and Fred get lined-up today. We will try our best to make the next one.

Gee Rick, if you didn't want to post my crappy scores you could have just said so. lol But wasn't I in the no bag group? I actually thought I would have done worse, but happy with my performance just the same.

Sorry guys for missing out. Shot my XLR rig last week, wanted a tighter group, so I am having the chasis and action / barrel bedded. The compound takes up to 72 hrs to cure so it was not ready. SO yall next month

Does that XLR stock have an aluminum bedding block in it? My rifle I was shooting yesterday is not bedded but does have an aluminum bedding block in the stock. That gun will shoot 1/4" 5 shot groups at 100 yds.

Gee, sounds like I missed a great match! Congrats to all the shooters for doing so well. Sounds like it will be hard to keep up with Peter and his new stick!

It was a great match. Fun and safe times had by all. That new stick was on yesterday. Thankfully the heat didn't give us too many problems yesterday. That heat did have the barrel pretty hot though.

Once you got used to that 2 stage trigger (hint, hint), you did well. The wind had picked up on your 3rd string.

Yeah well using the "Cadillac" made shooting that good relatively easy I must admit.:D Can you PM me the specs on your rifle/optics so I can compare and research some things please?

I had a great time and may even have my brother come out to try his hand at it not to mention Jacob is ready to start competing. I can't wait till I can make it again.

Oh I am dealing with my "issues" that I had with my gear at the match. Hope to be better prepared for the next time.
