After a 10 month wait I picked up my first suppressor today from my dealer. And also purchased a new Ruger 22/45 light with the threaded barrel. Couple questions, does one have to use sub sonic ammo out of the gun and suppressor or can regular .22 ammo be good to shoot? What are some of the ammo that is used?

You could just try it and see. I think most bulk ammo is going to be supersonic even out the 22/45 though

Bulk pack standard velocity ammo should be subsonic when fired through a barrel with a length 4.5 inches and shorter.

I have exactly that gun. Most bulk pack should be subsonic. Some varieties will be right on the line, with some rounds just above and some just under. Either way it still going to be pretty darn quiet.

Subsonic is really not worth the extra money except in a few specific circumstances.

Congratulations on your new toy. I just use the standard bulk pack ammo. The sub sonics are fun to shoot but will not cycle. Just don't shoot the heavy 60 grain subsonic bullets. I know someone who can make you a really nice holster for that gun.

    I'm yet to find a 22 round that's actually supersonic though my 22/45 suppressed(spectre 2)

The guy who made this can make a holster for anything. He's done a light bearing one for a 1911 for a friend of mine. I have mag carriers from him and he's doing a custom light/battery carrier for me now. His work is great. He's in Baton Rouge. PM me if anyone is interested. I'll put you in contact with him and he can sent you pics of his work. Went with a two tone on this one and one clip; just to try it. I love it; very sturdy and great retention.
