Well, finally finished setting up my 30-06 Marlin XL7 and Leupold FX-3 6x42mm Wide Duplex for hunting this year.

I am through with three loads for my 30-06 with two being specific and one being an over all round. Looks good, accuracy is good, handles good and it is ready for the field. It has been a 9 month trip getting this rifle setup and me satisfied with the results. It has been fun! :D

thanks guys, it has been a journey but it has turned out great. jmeng, I have owned quit a few of the older 6x42mm Leupolds and I have on my Nosler TGR a Leupold FX-II 6x36mm (becasue they are light and my TGR 7mm08 is all about being light weight), but the New FX-3 6x42mm is better than the older 6x42mm especially at twilight. I love fixed power scopes and use them a great deal hunting. The first of Sept I will have an article out on optics and will post it as soon as it is published.

Well I decided to check out the rifles consistency so went to the range this morning and verified two of my existing loads and one new one and I have achieved consistency with a variety of powders, bullets and brass. I did get it right with this rifle.

GS - HV and the deviation was 7, 3086fps

drop me an email with the loads you are using. I have been working with a .30-06 and 165 Ballistic Tips and haven't developed the right combination. I am curious to see what is working for you.
