Fishing places?

where is a good place to take kids to go fishing on land close to where I am at?

I am between Lafayette and Abbeville

Looks like you might be able to do some fishing at Lake Martin in or around the Launch.

This time of the year though fishing might be tough for bank fishing just due to the high heat. You would have to go out early am or late pm when things cool off.

You could also start building them a couple of small kayaks and or pirogue like I did.

Come to catahoula theres plenty of fishing along the levee here.

Isn't there a catfish pond or something like that around Maurice? I think you pay by the pound for what you catch.

Also, Spanish Lake off of 182 between New Iberia and Broussard is easy for bank fishing.

Spanish lake hasn't been very good. Lake Martin is nice and pecan island is real close to you

i dont know if you crab. but kids have a blast doing it, and you aint far from good fishing and crabing spots. like Grits mentioned ....i would head toward pecan island area, plenty of places to bank fish and crab. well, now you got me worried about your kids....freaken gators are out. na, go to lake martin or spanish lake....

Spanish lake will have fewer gators but lake Martin is packed full of them.

Does he like camping, if so he would have a blast at Lake Fausse Point. Lots of good fishing and not as packed as Lake Martin.

+1 on Pecan Island.

Also, if you want to go crabbing, the dock at Avery Island is good.

That would be cool. Its gonna start cooling off so the bugs should be slacking off. Heres some info on the campground...........
