Waddill Wildlife Refuge off Flannery Rd has public ponds, tons of people fishing this weekend.

What kind of fishing do you like to do? The LSU lakes hold lots of bass and perch, but if you want good saltwater you should head down hwy1.

If you have a boat you could head for diversion canal, not too far down the road. False river is only about 45 minuets away also. I have fished the lsu lakes before too, but never caught anything, but if i had, i wouldnt want to hang onto it for too long from some of the things people tell me.

I went down to the lakes to pull some perch... rigged my line up with a cork, 1/8 oz sinker and a hook with some bread. Did absolutely nothing but attract ducks

At what ponds can you keep your catch vs. catch and release? If the cats are biting I sure would love to be able to filet them suckers and have a little fish-fry!

I live on the Diversion and my neighbor caught a 34 1/2" long Channel Cat yesterday afternoon off his pier. It must have weighed 30 lbs. or more. He had three others in the 3 to 5 pound size. He was using Canadian earth worms.

I'm not sure which ponds are catch and release or not, since I really don't go there. There is better fishing much closer to home for me.

www.bckfc.org is where I get all of my South La fishing info. All of those guys fish from a kayak, so the fishing is relatively easy to get to.

Well, I have yet to catch one that big off my dock! I live on the Diversion, as well. I usually use store bought "catfish bait".

Back when I lived on the Diversion we used to pull cats all day and night. I would use cut up fish on the big rods and night crawlers on our regular rods. A friend up the river had about 4 trotlines and would catch 30-50 lb'ers all the time. Diversion has grown up alot since I lived there back in '00-'02, I wouldn't suggest fishing from a kayak :eek3:
