The same person who would spend 1800 for a Springfield M1A Scout. It's all about what you REALLY want in life....

Think about all of us who have bought AR's and then tricked them out. Look at that overall price.

While FA G18 is fun... Its not all that it is cracked up to be. But yes they are a ****ing blast. St Martin Parish SWAT is issued them for their Duty Gun.

At one time there was a guy on GB who had about 20 of these and if I remember right they were under 1800.00 but obviously he could only sell to LE agencies. I was damn sure bout to buy one.

To own this you need your FFL and pay the yearly SOT tax. You will also need a demo letter from a LE agency saying they want to demo the gun. If you decide to stop paying the SOT tax you must give up the gun.

Its not impossible. Several members here pay the SOT and have things like this. I would do it but I need a commercial business front to apply for my FFL due to the zoning restrictions where I live. One day though.

Apply for a Class III license :dunno:

as far as I know, there arent any Transferable G18's in the NFRTR. Glock was developing them in 1986, and the '86 MG ban was, well, In 1986. It is rumored on the intrawebz that there is *maybe* 3 transferable 18's, but if they were to go up for sale, I'm sure the price would be astronomical, and only one of the serious CIII collectors could afford it.

As AroundLSU stated, you could get an 07/02 FFL/SOT and posses/make them, or you could just become a LEO

How much is the "SOT Tax"

And don't you have to run a legitimate business and turn a profit to have a class III FFL? Or can it just be a hobby?

    I guess if you're friends with a sheriff it'd be practical. . . .

You don't necessarily need to be turning a profit but you need to be selling some guns (or silencers) every year. If the ATF thinks you are doing it to build a collection of machine guns you will be in deep ****.

The SOT is $500/year. Plus your regular FFL fees on top of that.

Alternatively, you could get a Class 3 manufacturers license and build your own machine guns without needing a demo letter from an agency but I am less familiar with that process.

Or you could also move to the Philippines were there are no restrictions on full auto weapons. In fact, one guy from Bais City, Philippines has a 93r for sale right now on TFL.
