If you cut a seal and pull the meter , the power company is not going to be happy . And they will require an inspection from city before reconnecting you .
If you're friends with the Serviceman in your area you might be able to call him up and get the meter resealed " under the radar " . Seen it many times .That's not been my experience but I'm sure it's possible, even likely in some situations /municipalities. YMMV
Yeah , it doesn't work that way . Your portable generator needs to run at 3600 rpm to produce the necessary 60 hz frequency .We went with a portable 7500ish on wheels with a Briggs and Stratton that ran on gasoline. The only negative aspect I've seen was it runs WOT which drinks gas. I wish the engine would run only as fast as the power it needed to produce.
I thought some honda generators dont run wot all the time. I guesss I thought wrong.Yeah , it doesn't work that way . Your portable generator needs to run at 3600 rpm to produce the necessary 60 hz frequency .
A lot of them throttle back if there is no load . My Generac does that . ECO mode or something like that .I thought some honda generators dont run wot all the time. I guesss I thought wrong.
My EMT instructor told us a story of the generator under the eaves. Exhaust went up the soffit vent and filled the house. Husband came home to find everyone dead.Thats only a danger if you run it indoors right?
Every single year man, never fails it seems some family or families fall victim to this. Like you said it’s a cheap $20 insurance that’s could save your life.Whatever you decide, don't forget to buy a carbon monoxide detector. We read stories every hurricane season about deaths that could've been prevented for less than $20.00
It happens that easily and people don’t realize it.WRONG....I have a standby generator 6 foot away from my house, a tree dropped on my house by the generator knocking out the window and putting hole's in the roof, there was enough CO gas in my house to set off the CO detector"s, it got in thur the window, holes in roof and vent"s in the soffet which was every two feet. If i had a chance to install generator from the start i would put it 20 yards out in the yard. Had it not been for the CO detector"s i may have killed my family.
