Sorry if this question has been answered before but most previous notes talked about out of state sales.

The question is: Can I give a handgun to an out-of-state relative who drives to LA to visit, takes a gun of mine as a gift, then drives home to his own state that is not too friendly toward handguns and requires registration? It the problem his after I give him the gun or can the problem be my problem with a possible loss of my CCW if traced back to me?

    Thanks in advance.

It is a felony for both you and him. You cannot transfer ownership of a handgun to a person you know is a resident of a different state than you. Even an FFL cannot transfer a handgun to an out-of-state resident. The only way to legally transfer a handgun to him is to ship it to an FFL in his home state, who can then do a transfer.
