    From another forum.

    Google the UPC code:764503910616

You should get several references to something like this:

    GLOCK UI4250201 GLOCK 42FS 380ACP 3.26″ FS 764503910616 0 $352.00 $399.00

You'll buy whatever Nate tells you to buy, and you'll like it.

Actually I learned it from you. :wtc:

Whenever anyone asks me about .380, I usually give them the same response:

But it is super cute when you get all defensive over your boyfriend. :)

When I made that post the only small .380 options were the Bodyguard, LCP, and a Keltec. There is also a Kahr, which is overpriced.

A single stack Glock in .380 will be a better option than all of the others.

Yes, 9mm would be great, but a single stack .380 by Glock would be better than a S&W 442. It will hold more ammo, have useable sighs, a trigger consistent with all of my other Glocks, and reloading it would be faster than speed loaders.

Or it could be a huge failure. It's a totally new and unproven platform, and Glock hasn't exactly been on top of their game the last few years. And it still shoots the same crappy .380 ammo all the others do, it won't make them magically bigger or faster. So excuse me for not getting all moist about it.

It may be a failure, it may not. Only time will tell.

Yeah, .380 ballistics aren't the greatest, but since I would only use it as a BUG to supplement another firearm in 9mm, it sure beats nothing.

I just have a feeling a compact .380 Glock will still be the same size as a Shield, PF9, etc. unless they break the mold and produce metal mags for it. I also don't think it will do anything magically better than the other quality .380s on the market, and certainly not magical enough to overpower the drawbacks of .380.

    I did some research.

The following was obtained from Speer's website, namely their ballistics chart as it relates to their Gold Dot line.(Speer does not make non-+p .38spl or +p.380)

Caliber Bullet Weight Muzzle Velocity Muzzle Energy
    .38SPL+P 125GRN 945FPS 248 F/LBS
    .380 90GRN 1040FPS 216 F/LBS
    9mm 124GRN 1150FPS 364 F/LBS
    .40S&W 180GRN 1025FPS 420F/LBS

According to my calculator .380 has 87% of the muzzle energy of .38SPL +P. 9mm has 86% the the muzzle energy of .40. I used ammo from the same manufacturer because I really don't have time to cross compare all of the ammo from all of the companys, but I'm sure there is some ammo boutique that makes some hot .380 rounds out there.

    A .380 will hold rounds than a .38 just like a 9mm will hold more rounds than a .40.

I'm not saying it's what's best for everyone, I'm saying it may work out better for me.

I'm not trying to argue with you. I don't want another infraction.

    It doesn't matter if you're packing a .500SW if you can't hit what you're aiming at. I'd prefer a .380 on target over a micro .45 that isn't.

It looks as if the G42 will be a 6 shot .380 almost identical in size to a Shield in every dimension but height where the G42 will be approximately .470 shorter.
Approximate empty weight: G42 13.40 oz. PM 9 15.90 oz. Shield 19.00 oz.
    MSRP $475

I guess I will settle with my Shield.

Above is a Shield with the 8 round magazine next to a Glock 26 with a 19 magazine. Other than the width, there isn't much difference.

Here is a Shield and a Glock 26 with their flush fitting magazines.

Will I do a Glock 42? I don't know. I'll wait and see what I think about this Shield first.
