He won't be off the street for as long as you think. If the media followed these crime headlines all the way through the process, I think we'd be horrified at the actual sentences these criminals receive for their crimes.

Example:
Headline - Cops Searching for Killers in Dollar General Shootings!
Follow up - Alleged Shooters of Deadly Dollar General Nabbed by Police!
No News - Killers get plea deal, sentenced to 15 years.

That is an extreme example, but you get the point.
