    It's just an excuse to get hammered with themed parties and drinks. I wouldn't try to read into it any more than that, spoils a perfectly good chance to have fun. Not like anyone really knows what Mardi Gras or St. Patrick's day are either.

    Cinco de mayo is an excuse to party and get hammered in America. I had a conversation with my Hispanic neighbor about this and he said nobody in his family or his community in Texas ever celebrated it. Also stated that in Mexico almost nobody celebrates it. It's a commercialized holiday here.

    Exactly, but many schools will not allow American students to wear a US flag on May 5.... Out of total ignorance. Cinco de Mayo was created by Corona and Jose Cuervo in the US.
