My dad went a couple days after my graduation and we opened up a CD at the local credit union. Huge help in what I have done through today.

I'd say go for a lifetime hunting trip or a guided fishing trip. He won't really appreciate it now, but later he will.

The custom knife certainly beats a cross pen! But you buying him a knife or gun won't mean as much as him inheriting something of yours that you used later.

Cash is nice but it'll be forgotten.

It's difficult to find something he'll keep/use forever. Lifetime hunting/fishing license is a great idea thats not tooo expensive. As long as he's hunting and fishing, at least.

Not sure, but I think it stays valid in LA for your lifetime. I could be wrong. It does not, however, allow you to fish or hunt in other states.

Yes.. That's how it works. Good in Louisiana for your lifetime. I didn't word my response very clearly.

Does he hunt? My dad got me a BAR for high school graduation, as I was deer hunting a lot at the time. Perhaps a Benelli or Beretta if he duck hunts. Those type of guns are the ones you keep forever and pass on to future family members.

I don't have any sons, but I am hopeful for a grandson(s) one day to pass my BAR and Benelli's on to.

I'd like to announce my eligibility for adoption...
