A fascinating follow up after thirty years on the shooting in public of a town bully in rural Missouri. I well remember the incident, as it got a lot of press coverage at the time and was later the subject of a book and a t.v. movie. Despite nearly 60 witnesses, nobody ratted on the shooters. Story may not be viewable w/o registration:

The murder of Ken Rex McElroy took place in plain view of dozens of residents of this small farm town, under the glare of the morning sun. But in a dramatic act of solidarity with the gunman, every witness, save the dead man’s wife, denied seeing who had pulled the trigger. The killing was a shocking end for a notoriously brutal man who had terrorized the area for years with seeming impunity from the law until he was struck down in a moment of vigilante justice.

In reading the book Mr. McElroy, I call him Mr. out of respect for his current state, got away with bullying people for a very long time. Had he lived in south Louisiana I doubt that he would have lasted more than a week and his family would still be wondering what happened to him.

Takes time for some people to grow a set.

    Yeah, true.....

But for cryin out loud!!! Many of these old people were from my father's generation- the Greatest Generation. BUT WHO WERE THESE PEOPLE??? I had to laugh when I first heard all the things they let slide- and thought about what I have NO DOUBT my father would have done...
Believe me- it wouldn't have taken even remotely that much.

The shootings, the rapings, the pedophilia.....I mean- you have just GOT to be freaking kidding me!!:confused:

...and through it all- NO response from the "authorities"...

I can honestly say that EVEN TODAY I do not know many people who would stand for that. He would be hog chow.
