My brother and I shot a couple with a 9mm back in the day. One shot each, DRT. I wouldn't want to try to repeat that with one that was pissed off though.
Any pistol you can accurately put rounds on target with. If you are without a primary weapon, or your pistol IS your primary weapon, you must put rounds on target. Caliber, operation, manufacture, or tactical-ness doesnt matter if you arent hitting flesh.
Why bring a pistol to a rifle fight? A rifle is capable of much more accurate fire in the woods. This is coming from the guy who loves revolvers.
My next thought was that pigs aren't particularly hard to kill. We used to kill them with a 37# recurve bow, with fiberglass field tip arrows. We didn't have any broad points.
Building on that thought, . . . I think I'd take my Blackhawk in .30 carbine, were I to go looking for a hog, along with my beater Universal .30 carbine. That Universal is light, accurate, and dependable, but the stock has been glued back together, and it's in poor condition, cosmetically. Dragging it though the woods could only add character to that rifle.
The point is moot. My right foot is damaged goods. I took a fall. I won't be packing any game out the woods anymore.
