My wife and I are getting our CCW thru Kemo this weekend.

Was hoping for some practical and economical suggestions on a holster for concealed carry for a glock 26.

It is almost intimidating when you begin looking into holsters due to how many different options and companies and styles and types. Not to mention how damn expensive alot of these are.

Not looking for anything fancy, just practical and serviceable.

I know that just as a gun, holsters can be a personal choice from person to person, and the best thing to do is to go try a bunch out.....

This question will simply help get me pointed in the right direction.

My wife will most likely carry hers in her purse. Seems I have seen purses specially made for such a thing, however I cant find any of the sites now that Id like to check them out.

For me, I think what would be most comfortable is the ability to have a holster I can use on a belt and witout a belt, probably carry along the small of my back.

http://www.copspus.com has many purses IIRC. I am not a big frame guy, so for me to conceal well, I usually go IWB. If going OWB, I find pancake holsters do a very good job pulling the gun close to the body, but you would need to wear a belt with one. I would suggest taking you handgun to a store that stocks many different ones and try them on. Some print worse than others.

Thunerwear is great when you wearing gym shorts or pants with no belt.I can carry a g-23 and a mag in mine and it is comfortable to wear.To me if a lady carries a gun in her purse it might as well be in the car.Fannypacks are safer than purses.

    And they are priced right.

I'm afraid I dont know what IWB, OWB, and IIRC means.

Im guessing something like inside/outside for iwb/owb.

Yup, but that argument isnt here or nor there at the moment.

Her carrying one on her at all, by any means is better than her not, nor her leaving it in her car.

    Its all about baby steps.

I'm a Galco fan all the way for concealed.
    personally I carry a G26 in :
    http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.asp?ProductID=1756&GunID=50
if I'd known it was available I would have bought:
    http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.asp?ProductID=299&GunID=50
either are great whether in slacks, blue jeans or shorts.

I've found that a S.O.B. holster is useless for me. I don't feel comfortable with the gun back there and if my shirt comes up I'm exposed without knowing. I also don't care for my ankle holster, the G26 is too heavy and it tends to slide down and isn't the most comfortable, but it does conceal well.

Galco has purses and may other options, you can search by gun type for what may fit your style best.

I usually recommend Cornered Cat to many of the women with whom I discuss handguns. It's written by a woman for women, so it will discuss things that many of us won't know or consider.

There's even a section on purse carry as well.

Should I Carry in My Purse?

I have the Comp-Tac MTAC and a Milt Sparks VM2. I like both of these very well.

I understand about getting your wife to carry outside of a purse. Baby steps is right, just getting her to want to carry is a big step. Checkout http://www.corneredcat.com/Holster/purse.aspx for some good advice from a woman's perspective. There is some good stuff on that site for men and women.

Check out the Comp-tac MTAC which is an inside the waistband holster. It has leather against your skin (although I like to wear a T-shirt underneath) and Kydex for the outer shell because it's thin. http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=95 It looks a little weird but works great.

Don't forget a good strong holster belt. The best holster will be worthless if it's flopping around and won't stay in place.

EDIT: Damn someone beat me to it with my slow typing skills LOL

I carry my Glock 23 in a IWB holster from Brommeland. Its a Max Con 5 and definately the most comfortable yet. Going with a upper line of holster is worth it. Before you know it you will have a box full of "test holsters" and spent alot of money anyway. I didnt have to wait weeks or months for mine.
