    By the looks of the houses, it's obviously they could afford to do something like that.

    Crest won't be down here for another week so let's hope it works.

    Some of the houses look like farm homes.... some of the owners may have had tractors with front end loaders, and plenty of land to pull dirt from.

    I was suprised by the one house near the road not just extending the levee to the edge of the road itself and not having to use the boat.

    That caught my eye too. However, you mess with the natural drainage along the roads when you do that, and you don't own the property along the road. The city/parish/state owns an easement on either side. Probably didn't want to run afoul of any legal issues.

    After spending all the time and money on dirt, how much could a single section of culvert cost to integrate. That boat could spell disaster depending on the flow in or out
