I am getting in the market to buy a home video security system and i am not sure at all what i need to look for in a system. I was thinking of a do it your self type of system. But i am clueless when it comes to things like this. And after what happined today i want something our dog was the fourth this year in a half mile strech to dissappear this year along with the dog toys in all. From our carport thanks in advance for the help!

Don't go cheap that was my first mistake.
Get digital color with at least 6500 hrs record time.
Install hard wire thru attic.
Some cheaper wireless systems can be disabled by smart thief's.
