Homeowner shoots suspect

On 4-30-2013 at approximately 1:03 p.m. the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 1100 block of William Harris Road in reference to a shooting. The initial investigation revealed that a suspect was attempting to steal property from the residence and when confronted by the armed homeowner, the suspect attempted to run over the homeowner with his vehicle.

In an effort to defend himself, the homeowner discharged his weapon, striking the suspect at least once. The suspect has been airlifted to Shreveport for medical attention and is in unknown condition.

This case is still under investigation at this time.

So much for the 'they only want your property' arguement.


The truth is, this is the only way we stand a chance to see this this type of BS ever start to decline. The threat of jail time doesn't scare a thief- chances are, they've already been. If they ever change the rules in this state....THAT could be a game changer.
