I've gone from 233 to 178. The first 25 was okay but after that I'm worried. I can't seem to gain any weight. How many calories do I need to eat to gain some weight? I haven't weighed this since high school, 54 years ago.

I would talk to your doctor and get him to run a blood test if you keep losing that kind of weight without being able to gain it back

If you are losing weight without actively trying to lose it you need to see a doctor asap.

    You'll gain weight.

Just eat lots of fat, protein. If those don't work add sugar, alcohol.

If you eat a big breakfast you're halfway (or all the way) there to gaining weight. If you're unsure of portions, get the McDonald's big breakfast combo (with pancakes, sausage, eggs, hashbrown) with a non-diet drink (easily 1,500 calories). Add in a double cheeseburger and fries for lunch (>1k cals) and a caniac chicken finger combo from Cane's for dinner (possibly 2k calories, but unknown) and you should be well on your way to maintaining obesity.

Old folks aren't typically very big though. It might take some work. NO EXCUSES, and don't cheap out either.

At this point, just maintain a healthy diet.
If you're in your target zone per height/weight/age,
    there's no issue.

The thing about being healthy is that you should never get on a scale.
If you're in your target zone for healthy weight, just eat right and exercise

Who cares what the scale says.

How long did it take for you to lose that amount of weight, and is there any particular reason you want to put it back on? Depending on your height/age/level of activity, that may be a healthy weight to be at.

When I played soccer in high school, I got mine down to around 60. I'm out of shape now and it sits around 90. Some better distance runners that I were in the low 50s. I think at his prime, Lance Armstrong was in the 40s or something. Unless you're a marathon runner or cyclist, probably.
