How to hold a lawyer accountable ?

My son is divorced and paying child support to his ex wife . Without going into a long detailed story , his ex's lawyer got my son's wages garnished and the end result was that he ended up paying twice this month . This caused his account to be overdrawn with the resulting NSF fees , etc .

He called the lawyers office and got a bunch of runaround and lies . They said that his money would be returned " in a couple of days " . Who do you complain to about this kind of ******** ? If he brings his own lawyer in on it , he'll just have more billable hours to pay for and be deeper in the hole .

They did not garnish twice in one month , if that's what you are meaning .
They garnished once , when it wasn't really nescessary and the resulting overpayment cost him a bundle . They aren't taking responsibilty and he needs to know who has oversight .

Maybe the judge who ordered the divorce decree/payments

Your son should file a complaint with the Louisiana State Bar Association. If his attorney did something wrong they will get to the bottom of it. The LSBA will even reimburse your son any money he lost due to the attorney's incompetence.

If most men in this miserable state realized just how TOTALLY at mercy to an ex with kids they are, thanks to Louisiana's laws, they would never get married and have a vasectomy immediately.

Oops, read it and thought alimony for some reason. Glad I don't have kids right now either. I don't look to have either a wife or kids for at least another 5 years. Guess its a good thing I don't sleep with just anyone.
