I'm looking into trading a pistol for a long gun with someone from TX. how is this done legally? we can't just meet and do the swap , we have to go though and FFL correct? which state does the FFL have to be in? this might just be more of a hassle than its worth to me.....but nice to know the law anyway. thanks - Egan

So a face to face isn't legal without paperwork ?

the way I understand it is....
if I'm from louisiana selling/buying to/from another resident of louisiana no paperwork is required

    Ouch.

You'd probably have to transfer one gun in TX and the other in LA to be 100%.

ya, thats what I was thinking. thanks all for the input
