Hybrid Holster Question

Looking at my stack of various holsters the other day and started wondering on putting to designs together that I've found I like.
Any one put a Safarilad ALS onto a leather IWB backing. Seems like it would make a secure IWB holster?
Only draw back I could see would that the results would be kinda thick.
