I’ve dabbled in knife making over the last few years, I’ve probably forged about 25 knives, and I just completed my first tomahawk.
I started out with a piece of mild steel 1.5”x6”x.25” and forged it down and wrapped it around a 1.5” pipe to rough in the eye, then drew out the body and forge welded it together and tapered the eye a little. I also forge welded in a damascus bit I had left over from another project for the cutting edge.
It’s on a curly maple handle that I dyed with leather dye and finished with a couple coats of TruOil.
