I understand that they are in the gun hating state of Cali., but some of these guns being melted down just make me want to cry. There has to be something else that could have been done with these, besides destroying them. Heck, auction them off in another state and set the extra funds aside to fund something the department wants that isn't in the budget. I know that's just wishful thinking, but c'mon guys get creative.

Out of 500 firearms they apparently had one AK, a MAC and one (very old) AR, which they placed on the table for the media. The next deadliest one is a black powder revolver and a pirate flint lock. I would love to see the thugs that was carrying those, I bet that they are some mean SOBs. They would have to be!

A collection of more than 10 brass pistols was confiscated from an illegal gun-manufacturing ring.

But we've got to close the 'gun show loophole' to stop criminals from getting guns. Yeah, whatever.

This is a shining example of California's anti-gun idiocy, Orange County could auction those firearms and make more money than the rebar would fetch, but "we've got to get the guns off the street" or, apparently, the high seas.
