Come on out to Barksdale AFB as we celebrate Earth day by burning off a few tens of thousands of gallons of JP-8 in honor of "the Defenders of Liberty!" Having spent all day helping get things set up, I can guarantee you will have hours of enjoyment. Everything from Mig-17s, F-4s, F-18, to representatives from the trio of nuclear bombers in today's Air Force. Bring the kids, its free and there will be hours of fun as your kids watch in awe as the Air Force's finest light up the sky in stunning displays of PURE AMERICAN FIREPOWER! There is something for everybody, from billion dollar nuclear bombers, to the stunning performance of the USAF Thunderchickens (AKA Thunderbirds)!

So come out and watch the best Air Force in the world demonstrate its abilities to open giant cans of whoop ass!

Free admission and shows on Saturday and Sunday. So come out, bring the family, bring yourself, just leave the guns at home as this is a military installation and no weapons allowed. :(

Busy or I would, used to love the Airshow as a kid before I had responsibilities/job, etc!

If you haven't been, it's well worth it! Even if it is overcast, lots of cool stuff to look at!

I went to the Barksdale air show in 1954 after marching in the Holiday in Dixie parade.

Toured a B-36. Will never forget it.

They wouldn't let me ride the sled between the foreward and aft compartments, tho.

Also saw a JATO assisted takeoff of a B-47.

    No B-52s then.

Well done, Sir! Way to get your message out.

May I suggest you post that on many other social media outlets (of course if you haven't already), to cast an even wider net!

    Air shows = Cool!

That is unless you were at Ramstein in August '88. Ouch!

O ya, im spreading the word as much as I can. This could very well be the last airshow from Barksdale for a long while (budget cuts), so enjoy em while they last.

I can honestly say this is one of the larger shows with some of the best performing acts that I will have seen to date. I guesstimate they have a half trillion + worth of aircraft on the flightline right now (although some are priceless like some of the warbirds). The Black Diamonds put on a great show, and the Thunderbirds are a must see for every American. If there is any way you can make it out, you should. I will be cooped up in my office for most of it (working the issues that arise) but just the noise from the F-4s is enough to warm my heart and bring joy into my life. Well maybe the B-1, that thing is just pure BA to the BONE!

    No weapons on base.

However, there are parking lots very close to base, expect them to fill fast but you can try to park in one. Just be prepared to not find a spot and have to drive home to drop on weapons. They screen everyone entering the static display area, and all vehicles driving on base are subject to search (driving on base is implied consent to search). But take my word, you do not want to get caught with a weapon on base, its not worth it. But parking lots along northgate road will offer views of most everything going on (and you could always leave stuff in the car and walk in). But get there early if you plan on that, they will fill up early.

Today's show was great, lots of JP-8 was converted into noise for the entertainment of all! I cant remember a time ive seen a show with 4 C-130 models, 3 707 platforms, all 3 bombers, and a nice assortment of warbird jets. Yall are missing out if you haven't been yet!

22lr, thanks for starting this thread.

It has been a really good one. Brought back fond memories of Barksdale.

I think my first visit on site was with a Cub Scout Den in the late forties. Saw a four jet bomber that I think they never made very many of.
