I got the 90gr Varminter bullets rated at 2700 fps. The 6.8 bullets are the same as a small .270 (.277). You can load up to 130gr for the 6.8 SPC. Most common is the 115gr. I will try it for hunting as soon as I get a scope for mine.

The key to the TSX is that it is all copper. i.e. it doesn't have a lead core to come apart. I have killed alot of animals with the X bullet (precurser to the TSX). It penetrates well and puts a deep 2" diameter wound channel in them. I wouldn't trust the 90 gr Varminter on deer (you may get some awsome kills, but you may also fail to get adequate penetration). Since you handload, I would see if Nosler has a Balistic tip less than 130 gr (although the 130 may work depending on the velocity). I used to hunt alot with a 6.5 JDJ (improved .225 case necked up to 6.5). It would shoot a 120 Balistic Tip at 2375 fps and always gave good expansion and adequate penetration. I would like to hear what you learn as you experiment with your new toy.

The 90gr's are for backup stockpile general use ammo. I will load my own hunting bullets. I loaded up some core-lokt remingtion 115gr bullets, but the bullets were loose in the cases I had (Barrett brass) I think the necks were too hard and did not resize properly. I am going to load some with the SSA brass and see if I get better results and test fire them with the chronograph.

Measure you expander ball on your resizing die. It may be a smidge big. Or you could size some cases without the expander ball. Measure the neck both before and after you seat the bullet. That will tell you how much neck tension you are getting. If you get too little you could have a die problem.

If I recall correctly, bottle-neck cartridges take 2 less steps than straight ones. Just think of the energy you would save.

Show me a $100 carbide sizer that DOESN'T require lubing the cases anyway, and cases that don't require trimming... and I might buy that.;)

Spray lube. Giraud trimmer. Both are very little trouble and extremely fast.

The funny thing is that I pay someone to size, polish and trim my .223 brass. I get it back in big boxes ready to go. He wil do 5 -6K for @ 4.5 cents apiece. Everything else I do myself (I even do some .223 from time to time), but I don't shoot other calibers in nearly the volume that I do in .223.

I have already told LSP I would reload either .223 or 6.8. All he has to do is supply the components.
That part of the argument is closed:)

    I enjoy reloading bottleneck cartridges.
