    Nooooo, not like THAT.

Spent the day at my department's range for inservice training. Had a ball doing some combat shooting drills (run and shoot, various targets, metal plates, etc.). A lot more interesting than the normal qual stuff.

While we were on a break, I mentioned to the rangemaster that I was looking for some .223 brass for reloading. He asked how much I needed. I told him, "Whatever I can get my hands on. 20-100-1000, whatever I can get."

He told me to check back with him before I left the range.

    Sooooo, I did.

We went inside, he grabs a 5 gallon bucket and dumped the ENTIRE contents in a box and handed it to me, with a "Have a nice day."

Turns out to be right around 1000 once-fired .223 LC brass.

He said to check back with him in a couple of weeks, he'll probably be able to fix me up with some more. Think I just might do that.

Dang, sometime you just gotta be in the right place at the right time, and talk to the right person. (Doesn't hurt to be tight with the rangemaster, either.)

When the Army team is at Palo Alto, they give away their brass, but it is Lapua. It helps to speak up early. I missed out last spring, but this spring they are bringing 10 shooters (lets see 10 X 88 rounds = a bunch). It is good to see our tax dolars at work.

We have a Marine Corps Reserve and National Guard unit in our city, and they both use our range.

I think they leave their brass behind when they leave, so needless to say, I will check into that.

May end up scoring a whole BUNCH of once-fired stuff before it's all over.

Needless to say, I'll take whatever they want to give.

When the Marines rent Palo Alto, we request that they leave their brass. They pick it and the strippers up and put them in the original packing crate and give it to the club. Drop by the house and I can show you what I mean. :D
