The real ones can still be found if you keep your eye open, my cousin just bought one without the trigger disconnect in Covington for $300.

Sorry if that is of no value to you.

I have 2 of them that I'm about to start on. They're in rough condition right now, but they're the older versions w/o the gated disconnect. I will have them listed in the sponsor's classifieds when they're finished. That should be around the first week in December.

The trench gun model is not use in main SSAS match.
But can be use in the wild bunch class.
They will need to be polish up to run smooth.
Lots of guys and ladies use reproduction mod97 to shoot SASS matches.
    *No manual safety
    *Does look cool

I figured it wasn't, but I figured the western style one was, and that could give me an idea how they hold up. Thanks for the info. I guess I'm wondering do they fall apart, blow up or spit screws everywhere, or are they a reliable functional shotgun.

have had the "non" trench model for 2 yrs or so w/ no problems. got around 400 rnds down the pipe so far. ran across a post somewhere about backing off the exposed slotted screw in the bolt a 1/4 turn [counter-clockwise me thinks] and seemed to lighten the action up a bit. mine will hold 6 in the mag. i have 2 benelli super nova tacticals, and a model 37 satin nickel 8 shot along w/ a host of twice barrel coach guns, but, the mod 97 clone is my go to shotty gun. the receiver profile is small in comparison to the other ones mentioned. another plus is that it does not have an exposed shell lifter to rip the end of your thumb off as compared to an 870 or model 12 while reloading the mag. i like the fact that you can chamber a round then ease the hammer to half cock as opposed to counting on the safety. also you can silently cock the hammer by holding the trigger back and bring it to full cock. mine will also slam-fire but don't expect much accuracy. hope this helps. laura&vic

Thanks for the responses, they are what I was hoping for. I want a pump shotgun for the house, and, as it will hopefully spend it's whole life as wall decoration rather than a weapon, I really like the look of the 97 trench gun. That being said, it needs to be a weapon as well.
