In Search of a Colt Python(UPDATE) and Colt Diamondback .22

After this past Sunday's Range Day with two friends who own original Colt Pythons and shooting both I have decided to get one of my own. I am looking for not the lately renewed production version but an original Colt Python with 6" barrel in the Colt Royal blue, nickel or polished stainless steel in really good condition.
Anybody have one they might be interested in selling?

There is a Gun Show coming up at Lamar Dixon in Gonzales, LA. There is always a guy selling a bunch of Pythons. Be prepared to pay about 2-4k for one. It is the finest revolver ever made and there is high demand for them on the collectors market.

Well, I was able to get my hands on an extremely NICE Python a few weeks back. I won't get into how addictive these Colt snake guns can get. Lol...... Now I'm in need of .357 ammo and haven't had any luck getting any. I went to the gun show today in Gonzales mainly to "window shop" for a Colt Diamondback in .22 and a couple of other things including .357 ammo. Anybody know where I can get some?

Those Colts are fine, that's the reason Ed McGivern and Jerry Miculek shot them.

I shot with Jerry for years and never remember him using anything but S&Ws for competition. Going to have to research more for what Mr McGiven used.

I saw a bunch of Python's at Scheels just outside of Dallas a couple weeks ago. There were 20 of them, all like new in box. They only wanted $104,000 for them. Back in the 70's, you could buy them for $800.

Bought my first new Python in 1976 - a 6" SS for $500. $5200 each now seems a bit pricy but some of the shorter barrel versions do sell for a good premium. Maybe $104K isn't out of line?

If you can't find a 22lr Diamondback, I think my 6" Trooper shoots at least as well and you may be able to find one of those easier (and less expensive). But my 6" nickel Diamondback is definitely better looking, IMO.

I could have bought a new Colt Python 4" blued back in the mid '70s for about $500 or a bit more. Still kicking my self in the butt for not buying one back then!
