Found this guy under my carport... body length of roughly 1/4" and the proboscis is about the same length... VERY hard carapace. I thought it was a spider on my foot and thumped the hell out of him and didn't hurt him

Pecan weevil makes sense since we have several pecan trees around our house. I've just never seen one like this and we've been here 6 years. I thought it was a tick at first glance. I would just like to know what it is for sure, not only to satisfy my curiosity but I have animals and I want to know if this is some type of dangerous little critter.
I had a few people tell me it looked like a bed bug but after researching I've determined its definitely not a bed bug.

If you find immature pecans on the ground with holes drilled in them, and mature pecans with the guts eaten out, you have pecan weevils.
