Just wondering if someone with first hand experience with an AR 9mm and A 9mm blow back carbine like the sterling could share there suppressed shooting views? I'm asking because I've read the AR design is a loud host. I would be using a 10" barrel on either gun. Thanks

Don't know about sound, but a sterling is the sweetest shooting 9mm carbine ever produced. It will handle the extra crud from the suppressor better than an AR and there are shrouds actually designed to work with a suppressed sterling.

9mm AR's operate on straight blowback as well unless I'm mistaken, didn't think they had gas tubes. I can't remember if I've heard a suppressed 9mm AR, but an open bolt Mac11 suppressed is amazing.

Don't know why I didn't think they would be I guess I just didn't think the bolt would be heavy enough. I've never shot one. Thanks everyone.

i have a 5" Tros barrel on my AR and w/ my TiRant, it's very quiet. granted i will shoot either AE 147gr or Fiocchi 158gr ammo with it as i find those are great factory loads to shoot suppressed. there are some 147gr loads that seem to be a bit hot, like Federal Hi-Shok that won't sound as well suppressed. Remington Subsonics sound good too, but i'd rather the 2 previously mentioned.
