My dad gave me a J. Stevens Arms Company, Visiable Loading Repeater rifle (22 short, LR)...in a box.
He sent it to a gunsmith because it wasn't working (I don't know HOW it wasn't working). Anyway, the gunsmith never got around to fixing it, he only took it apart and lost some parts (hammer and maybe more) and gave it back to my dad in pieces, which is how I received it. No chance of getting the parts back.

From what I've found on the Internet, this gun MAY be worth $50 - $100. It has no sentimental value. Is this worth having repaired?

    Pics are available if interested.

Give us a call and we can set up a time to take a look and let you know how much it would take to fix it.

Sounds familiar. I found an old stevens single shot .22 in pieces many years ago at a relatives home. I reassembled it, and eventually found a gunsmith in chalmette (pre-katrina) that had the missing parts. Cost me about $30 in parts. I used to use it as a dedicated cb cap gun when we went camping. Finally gave it to another relative to play with... fun little gun though. They're a lot more accurate than you'd expect.

Thanks AnnieOakleaf. I'll give ya a call.

LACamper, that would be the best outcome, but based on its current shape, I think it's going to cost more to put Humpty Dumpty back together.
