Field Precision Rifle Match 1/11/2014 at Palo Alto

Cool temperatures and winds gusting 20mph + .... This was our first FPR match of 2014 to crank off the season at Palo Alto. We had a great turnout with 20 shooters in attendance to face the tough conditions.

In the FPR no rear bag class, Rob Westfall takes the win scoring a 585-14X for a
1st place finish shooting from a sling. Great shooting in such tough conditions.

17 shooters showed to shoot the match as an F Class Practice class match. This one came down to the wire with the Overall Match Winner, 1st, and 2nd place being separated by a point each.
Wes Cummings, driving in from Florida, claws his way to the top in order to be our Overall Match Winner with a 589-24X. Good shooting Sir! Craig Martin, shooting his trusty .308, ended the day one point behind Wes shooting a 588-17X to secure
1st place. 2nd place goes to William Wittman scoring a 587-29X. Bob Lundholm slides in for the 3rd place spot shooting a 584-22X.

We hope that everyone enjoyed the match as much as we did.
    See everyone next month.

What does it cost to shoot these matches and do you have to be a member of the range already?

You should have been at the last one: Free to speculate and spectate:rofl:

Yea I should have. Can we warm up at shorter distances before the match or do we just jump right in at 600? I want to buy some match ammo to use for the match but my rifle is sighted in with hunting ammo now. Are there targets at 100/300 to test with before going to the 600?
    Thanks

We do have a 100y range that is open for a short period before the match, if a club member is able to accompany you while you shoot, but it is best you show with a good 100y zero and know your elevation adjustments to get out to 600y.

Just to clarify the rules here guys, you can use bolt action or semi-auto rifles, as long as the rifle has an internal or detachable magazine correct?
So a normal Remington Model 700 bolt action with say 3 round internal magazine capacity is allowed? Also an AR-10 style rifle is allowed?
    Thanks

    Both you mentioned are legal.
However you must feed your rounds from the magazine.
If you have an internal mag in the 700, just load 3 rounds into the internal mag. Shoot them and reload.
Basically this just limits you to 2.820" oal on .308 rounds.
