That article has a troll-tastic headline. They are not banning anything, just putting a limit on power consumption. You can still have a 50" tv, it just needs to meet the requirements.

That may be, but is there any doubt whatsoever that most of the lawmakers in California appear to be teetering on the edge of insanity?
It seems like every consumer product you run across either is or isn't "California Compliant". What a bunch of f**kin tools.
Hey, God? Once again, thanks for the fact that I WASN'T born there.

I'm not saying the numptys in cali aren't off their fricken rockers, but that headline was completely written to grab attention and blatantly ignores the actual facts.

Limiting power consumption in an area that has such a huge population makes some sense. There is a limit to how much electricity can be put into the grid with current generation techniques, and Calfornia is a difficult place to build almost any kind of new power plant.

Here in New Orleans, Entergy is going around to businesses that use large amounts of electricity; they are helping the businesses cut back on what they use so that Entergy won't have to build a new power plant around here. It's actually cheaper for Entmrgy to pay for their conversion to flourescent lights and energy efficient equipment than it would be for them to build a new plant.

Bah, Humbug! The rest of the folks in the state will probably have to pay for it as it is given away free to the bidnesses in Nawlins. We are already paying for Hurricane damage in each and every one of our electric bills.
Too bad Katrina didn't blow Chocolate Town off into the Gulf when it had the chance.
