This will be my first time to the Lamar Dixon. Does it compare any better or worse than the one in Kenner?

I'd say worse, and most will agree. Less vendors, higher prices. Last time i went, I ended up going to Herbert's after and buying what i came for.

Report from my buddy. He got there at 8am and avoided the line but when the show opened at 9am the line for people to get in, NOT the line for cars, was backed up all the way to the guard gate at the entrance to the Lamar Dixon complex. Wrap your head around that. He said the line at the ammo booth inside the building was so jammed they had to make an intercom announcement about it because it was blocking the rows to the other tables.

I attempted to go there to look around before the rally at the Capital at noon. I got there at 9:00 and parked. When I got to where the line was I realized that there must have been 3-4,0000 people already standing there. I bailed and hit Cabella's. Gun area totally packed. When leaving there the car line for the gun show was backed up about a quarter mile to the East of I-10.

I would love to know how many tickets were actually sold and am sure that at least that many more gave up. If half of those people came to the capital it would have great.

That is what changed my mind. I had a friend to report the same while I was in the car line. I turned around and wound up at the madhouse that was Cabelas.

Well, I got there around 1pm and two ticket lines were not long. Inside was akin to Bourbon on Fat Tuesday, packed. Plenty of 223 ammo for $1 - $1.25 per round and there was a line to buy ammo at those prices. Shocked by the prices of SKS's at $500-$675. AR platform rifles $1,800+ and used 30 rnd GI mags for cheap only about $35 or 25 rnd 10-22 mags for only $45. .22lr for 8 to 10 cents per round.
I saw a few deals. I really considered, if I woulda had some spare cashola.
Went to Cabelas after and was allowed to purchase 2- 20 rnd boxes of Independence (remanufactured) 5.56 55gr FMJ ammo for $10/box. There was a display of Herters steel case 7.62x39 for 37.5 cents per round limit 10 boxes. Roger
