Looks like I have several ammo cans full of illegal ammo.

I don't think it is illegal, I think that the officer saw it was LE use only and used it as reasonable suspiscion.

I don't know, but I've seen LE ammo in white boxes marked for LE use only. I think the container, not the type of bullet, is where the issue was.

Nowhere in the article does it say the ammunition was illegal. They were arrested because it was stolen from an Air Marshal storage trailer.

Only if your ammo was stolen, which I will bet that it isn't...

The only difference in LE ammo and regular ammo is that it's sold to gun stores at a slightly lower price than regular ammo, with the intent that it will be sold only to law enforcement as a discount item.
