    Do COMMISSIONED law enforcement officers in Louisiana have to submit themselves to the same procedure that civilians do when purchasing a handgun for personal use. (Background checks, waiting periods, etc)

    unless special circumstances with departmental letter head , rare instances usually reserved for nfa type stuff , but also usually not personal property

    i dont think they have a ncic check though on a 4473

    When I was a commissioned LEO back in the late 80's through the mid 90's we had to buy our own duty weapons and yes we did have to fill out the 4473. There was no NICS back then but we still had to pull out the drivers license and fill out the paperwork. That was during a time when the laws were not as restrictive as they are now. Now it's worse.
