Haven't found anything local, order online. I get 5160 from McMaster and everything else (O1, D2, S35-VN) from New Jersey Steel Baron. Shipping can suck, but I order a few pieces at a time.

Aldo the NJ steel baron is who I used for my 5160. His stuff is top quality and is highly touted on the knife forums. I haven't found anything localy either.

If they have what you are looking for onlinemetals.com has some of the better internet prices. That said it was WAY more expensive than buying it local, or at least for mild steel.

Looking on youtube, there seems to be a lot of guys making knives from old car/truck leaf springs.

I'm working on making a couple out of an old lawnmower blade!

Big industrial circular saw blades seem to be popular as well.
