CHARLOTTE COUNTY - A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed Monday night while responding to a domestic disturbance call at a Port Charlotte apartment complex.

Cpl. Michael Wilson was fatally shot at the Lakes of Tuscana Apartments on Veterans Boulevard, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.
Wilson, 42, was a 20-year veteran of the department.
A sheriff's official said Tuesday morning Wilson had a wife and children, although they did not know the children's ages.
