Just joined the forum and trying to get a feel for the people here.

Who shoots long range here, what do you consider long range and what style of shooting do you do?

Long range is considered 800yds+ and there's a few of us here who shoot it. Most of the time we shoot F-class or Mid-range prone at 600yds though as it's much more readily available in south Louisiana. Welcome to the bayou.

^^^^ What he said. There are F-Class/Mid-range Prone matches the first Saturday of the month at Palo Alto in Donaldsonville, Field Precision Rifle matches the 2nd Saturday and Across the Course Service Rifle matches the 3rd Saturday. Pick your poison.

Where can you shoot at 200 and 300 yards in the Baton Rouge area?

Palo Alto? What does it take to get in there?

Anywhere else? I have a bolt gun I would love to shoot at 200 and 300 yards and never have.

Palo Alto is considered a gun club and you either need to be a member, a guest, or participating in competition to shoot there. They do have memberships available and you can sign up or contact Mr. Joe Mistretta via the website.

I do have short range weapons too lol, my 1200m and under close range/comp gun will be finished by time I get back...260 gasser with 18" barrel built onto machined upper and lower combo from a west coast guy

At Palo you can shoot 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 yards.

So what kind of 260 do you have coming from the commie coast?

I would love to shoot more than 600, but I have no where except Palo Alto and Ive only been there a couple times.

What kind of shooting? I shoot for fun, would love to do some of the tactical competitions they have out there, but for now I just play around trying to hit very small things.

Kengel2....My buddies at JD Machine are building me a gasser on their lower and upper with PRS stock and SWS E1 hand guard with 18" bartlien barrel with adjustable gas block for surpressed and completely off.

JLouque....Yea we will have to do that. You got any 260 ammo available?
