I've been looking for a contractor that will show up at all LOL -- if you want a well-paid handy man job (fixing an attic in Metairie) -- I'll pay a Vet well. I don't need perfection, just someone that will show up LOL!

Schlumberger is hiring the crap out of veterans right now. I have my second interview scheduled for two days back to back in July to visit the base in Houma and interview the interviewer. I believe it's a Field engineer position but there's all kinds of jobs with them available. Schedules range from 14/14, 14/14 with on call and on call. I'm stoked, I'm absolutely positive they are looking for vets, they specifically have a recruiter for us now, it's all he does.

    NOLA/Northshore!
Also have you thought about maritime work? Kirby marine is still hiring tankerman trainees. Good money and long term benes. Work your way up to captain and make 125K per year plus in 5-7 years if you're ambitious.

My son works for them now and is making 180 a day as a trainee. Not bad for a 18 year old a year out of high school.
