I was looking at the opening credits of Southland and noticed the first officer pointing what appears to be a flared barrel pistol. Anyone have an idea of what it might be?

Thats a terrible picture to try and ID one from, its definately a Colt or S&W though. That barrel may not be so prominently crowned, its possible its the angle of the picture.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say with about 80% certainty its a Colt Police Positive.

"a police officer holding what appears to be a Colt New Service is the first photo seen."

    Even they aren't 100% sure.

I know what they're going by, which is the front sight which on the New Service has a distinct look, but that's not a New Service IMO. It doesn't fit the context.
