    Not necessarily... the "newer" imported Russian versions (adjustable rear sight) came in .380 as well as 9mm Mak (9x18).
    They also came in 7.62x25. That is what I would like to get my hands on but the 9mm variant was the most common.

    This is incorrect (to an extent). The Russian Makarov pistols, IJ-90 & IJ-70 (rear adjustable sight) are chambered in 9x18 Mak and .380... the 7.62 Tokerev ammo was used in the CZ-52 and older Mak variants... which was also chambered in 9x18 (replacement for the 7.62 round).

    The older version of the Mak/CZ/etc. did not have adjustable rear sights.
