My son is 7 and he loves shooting with me. This past weekend I took out the Ruger Vaquero, Winchester 94 .44mag and the 1851 44 Black Powder pistols and let him shoot them. I was proud to see him tearing up the bowling pins with the .44 mag.
That was her first time with a pistol. I was pretty nervous. She likes to shoot spent shotgun shells off the backstop with her cricket. I don't worry about the rifle too much. It's a lot harder to get that rifle barrel in a dangerous position. I wasn't sure she could hold it on her own. I thought she may drop it, or not have a good grip after the first shot, but as usual she fooled me. After a couple of runs with a single round loaded, I let her roll with a full mag.
Next trip to the range she wants to try more than one target. I guess it won't be long and she'll be taggin' along to the matches.
