My grandfather told me when I was a young kid that back in the day the country stores sold cleaned rabbits with one foot still attached. He said they did this because a skinned rabbit looks just like a skinned cat and people were actually bringing in skinned cats and selling them as rabbits.
Maybe if we had a Vietnamese family move in the neighborhood we wouldn't have a cat problem.

My wife wants to bring her in at night but I said no. Too much hair and every tIme it rains, she loves to roll in her mud puddle. Talked to my neighbor across the street (he has 2 cats) and told him I will let his cats live if I catch them. I know they aren't his that's been bothering my dog. He couldnt believe the guy copt an attitude either. He said he gets woken frequently by his neighbor behind his house but he doesn't beat down doors. I also have one of my neighbors that has a yappy yorkie that keeps me up sometimes but I don't cry about it. All caught stray cats may take a ride with to Venice or Fourchon. They'll have a better chance there than the pound (my PC comment).

Seriously??? Hair is part of dog ownership, if it seriously bothers you that much you should not own a dog.

My parent's neighborhood has a leash law that applies to both dogs and cats equally. If your animal is found off the leash you get a warning, then a fine. I think its great!

2-3 weeks of this going on EVERY night....

If my neighbor's dog woke me up every night for a couple of weeks we would have words too. Of course I would try to talk to them before it got to that point. Courtesy goes both ways and just because your other neighbors haven't complained doesn't mean it's OK.

Agreed. I have been trying different things to stop it, i.e. Talking to other neighbors about their cats, bark collar, game camera and now trap. Courtesy does go a long way. Imagine if someone came knocking on your door yelling at you not letting you get a word in. After we both calmed down we agreed to both start calling animal control about the cats and asking them to put out traps. My wife called them three times just today about traps and they just tell us to call back to get on the waiting list. So I went and spent $60 at academy on my own trap.

Oh I would be pissed if someone came to my door yelling, which is why I said I would talk before it got to that point. It's good to hear that y'all came to some kind of understanding, and traps are probably going to be the only way to deal with it. Poison is just a bad idea because of any other animals that might get in to it. Around here we have just as many problems with coons at night as we do stray cats (and it's right in the middle of town). That might be part of your problem too.

my dog sleeps under the covers and is not usually a barker....but, she is scared of cats in person (acts all tough while in the car, again not a barker). Hair not a problem with a weimaraner. You could try letting your dog sleep in the bed, lol.

I have a neighbor with a barking dog and at this point I don't care why it's barking I just want it to stop.

Trust me.. I want it to stop as much if not more than he does! I even told my wife if it starts becoming an issue with the Po-Po we may need to ship her off for a while until we extinguish the cat problem. Last thing I want to do but... Like I said earlier, if she didn't roll around in her favorite mud puddle every day, bringing her in wouldn't be that big of a deal but bathing a GSD every night is a no go. Can't expect my wife to do it when I'm offshore.

Too much hair? It's a chihuahua. I'd be pissed to listening to that thing bark all night.

Seriously, put the dog inside. Aren't you worried a hungry pigeon will fly by and grab it?
