I still haven't tried larue and la smokehouse. How are those two places ?

Larue is a small mom and pop shop, literally husband and wife team (elderly couple). The chicken was good, but brisket is dry. Ribs are ok, tastes like a generic sauce is on them. Not a BBQ destination for me per se, but It's close to where I work, so sometimes I'll order something and have someone pick it up for me.

I need to make it out to LA smoke house, I haven't been there myself.

All the suggestions given are excellent. Whole Foods smoked meats will surprise you!! They are LEGIT, and can hold their own with any of the places listed!

Walker's BBQ ,on Hayne Blvd, in New Orleans East, is about as good as it gets. They are right next to Castnet Seafood, which is pretty good, too. I think they share the same dining room. I think Walker's has a booth at Jazz Fest every year.
