Buddy of mine is looking to order all of his M4 components off of this site except the stripped lower. He is wanting an M4 chambered in 7.62 because he already has an sks and the ammo is cheaper blah blah blah the normal reasons why someone wants it in that round from what I've read. Nothing too new is why I approach it sarcastically. I don't own an M4 so I have nothing to tell him other than what I've read here.

I was hoping someone might have some info on the site or even the quality of the m4 they are selling. Any information would be helpful. I've told him guys always recommend m4 only in 5.56 for the most part and that colt, spikes,PSA , and Daniel defense are usually the ones that pop up most. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

I've never had an issue with Model 1 sales products, but I clean after shooting and normal maintainence.

    Kennah!
Quite a while back (over ten years ago) I ordered a build kit from Model1.
Took them a year and a lot of ******** promises from them to get my order, even though it was supposedly in stock when the order was placed.
The parts were standard mil-spec stuff, just about what you'd expect on the cheap.
Wouldn't give them my business again.
Besides, I can't imagine how long it would take them to get you an order today if things have not changed with their staff.

Ive had great luck with model 1 sales. Had a 26" bull barrel upper for a while, and a 16" M4 profile. Both ran like champs and were just as accurate as any other barrel ive tired. Ive heard enough horror stories to not buy from them online, but if you can get your hands on one in person there is no reason to not buy it. There are so few differences in AR parts that brand matters very little.

That's just not true there are large differences. And that's and oft repeated piece of misinformation. I'm fact it's a bold face lie Model 1 uses in their marketing. Just like with cars parts aren't parts.

Care to link to something with more info, or share more info? I was of the opinion that very very few companies actually make anything. Isn't Model 1 just one of the companies that assembles the stuff that everyone else makes?

Bought a 24" bull upper (Douglas barrel ) from them at the Houston show in early 90's. Never a problem and good for. 7 moa at 200 yds.

Most of the top flight manufacturers build their own small parts in house. There are some specialist companies that ,ale most of the mil-spec bolts for instance but Model 1 isn't using mil-spec parts. If you buy a Colt, BCM, LMT, DD, or even lesser quality rifles like RRA or DPMS most of the parts were made in house.

But isnt that the same with all of the budget companies?

That most of them don't use mil-spec parts? Yes. I would wait for the Great Panic Buy of 2012 to subside and see if prices stabilize before I settled in Model 1.
